what we believe
Cornerstone Austin is a community of faith centered on the person and work of Jesus.
We believe that in Him the deepest longings of the human soul find their fulfillment as He invites us into new life and to participate in the story He’s writing in our world. We believe God is building a home in our city, bringing our stories together and fitting them into something beautiful called the church. He invites each of us to find our place in what He’s building by discovering faith, embracing hope, and becoming part of a transformational community marked by the love of Jesus. To be a people of faith. A voice of hope. And a community known by love.
A place where both God and the city of Austin are quite at home. That’s why our vision is simple:We believe the church is a missional and transformational community through which God brings His goodness, beauty, truth, and hope into the world. He invites us not just to attend, but to participate in the good He is bringing into our world. At the heart of our community is a simple invitation:Believe the good news of Jesus.
Belong to a missional and transformational community.
Become all that God has designed you to be.the tenants of faith that form our community:
WE BELIEVE IN JESUS christ
We believe in the in the uniqueness and supremacy of Jesus, unlike any other, the Son of God and Savior of the world. Through Jesus alone humanity is offered grace, hope and love, the forgiveness of sin, and new life both now and forever. We believe Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for the sins of humanity, was physically buried and physically resurrected and ascended to the Father where we await His return. We Believe In The Oneness Of God
We believe in one personal and knowable God who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; three distinct persons who share one divine nature, essence, and being.God the Father is the Creator and sustainer of all things. From the beginning He has pursued humanity with love, inviting us into relationship as His sons and daughters.God the Son, Jesus Christ, reveals the heart and character of the Father. Through His life, death, and resurrection He makes a way for humanity to be reconciled to God and restored to the life we were created for.God the Holy Spirit is present and active in the world today. The Spirit awakens faith, transforms hearts, guides us into truth, and empowers us to live the life Jesus calls us to live.Though distinct in person and role, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one God; eternal, uncreated, equal in glory, power, and authority.
We Believe In The Scripture
We Believe the Bible is the inspired Word Of God, both accurate and authoritative for our world today. We believe it is knowable truth revealing who God is, who we are as His creation, and the story of redemption God invites us into through Jesus. We believe it is both trustworthy and enduring. It reveals the way to life and transforms us as we both believe and live out it’s teachings. We Believe In Creativity, Beauty and Wonder
We believe creativity and beauty are essential to the human experience and awaken wonder within us. God first revealed Himself as Creator and because we are made in His image, creativity is part of our design. Through art, innovation, craftsmanship and expression humanity reflects the creative nature of God. Creativity and beauty are not ends in themselves but expressions that point beyond us to the goodness of God and the hope we have in Jesus. Throughout history the Church has carried a legacy of poets and prophets, artists and theologians who have helped the world see the truth and beauty of God. We believe the Church should continue this legacy and remain one of the most creative places on the planet, sharing the most beautiful story ever told.We Believe In Humanity
We believe that every human being was created in the image of God, giving every person inherent dignity, value, and purpose. We believe that sin has marked every human life, distorting our desires and motives and leading us away from life and truth. Yet through the grace of Jesus every person is offered forgiveness and reconciliation and is welcomed into the family of God. We believe in the unique gifting and calling of every individual, given by God to creatively express His story through faithful witness and personal testimony. We Believe In The Church
We believe the church is a distinct community of those who have placed their faith in Jesus and are on mission to share His message of hope with the world. We believe that every person was designed for community. No individual fully reflects the Body of Christ alone, so God invites us into the family He is forming called The Church. We believe the purpose of the church is mission fulfilled through the context of evangelism, discipleship, worship and community. We Believe In Grace
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, made possible by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. No level of morality, behavior, work, or effort can earn or restore our relationship with God. We believe salvation is received by grace through faith; believing in Jesus, trusting His work, and surrendering our lives to His lordship. Through His grace we receive new and eternal life both now and forever.
